Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate drags on the ground or scrapes the driveway. This usually means the hinge welds have stretched or cracked at the post, and the gate has dropped a half inch or more. The operator keeps pushing, but the frame is no longer square.
- A visible crack runs through a weld joint at the hinge or the frame corner. Southern California heat cycles expand and contract steel every single day. After enough years in the Arcadia sun, the weld fatigues before the parent metal does.

The safe DIY check is visual: look at every weld joint on the gate frame and hinges for hairline cracks, rust staining that runs out of a joint, or a gate that’s no longer sitting level when closed. What you should not do is attempt to weld a load-bearing gate frame yourself. A gate that fails and falls can kill someone, and a weld that looks solid on the outside but has no penetration inside will fail exactly when the gate is swinging open across a driveway. DoorKing gates in particular carry the weight of the operator, the gate leaf, and years of wind load at the hinge point. We MIG weld with matched filler, grind the joint to full penetration where the load requires it, and document the work with photos before and after.
