FAAC Welding & Fabrication: The Arcadia Owner’s Guide

We stock and install FAAC-compatible welding and fabrication components in Arcadia, with most bracket, hinge, and mount repairs running $220-$480 installed depending on the part and whether we’re rebuilding existing steel or fabricating a replacement. Same-day service is available for most FAAC weld failures, and we carry common FAAC mounting plates, gate brackets, and reinforcement stock on the truck. The usual way an owner discovers this problem: the gate starts dragging at one corner, or the motor strains against a hinge that’s been silently tearing for months. In Arcadia’s dry heat, powder coat fails at the weld line first, then rust works the joint from the inside out.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

This covers the full range of FAAC swing and slide gate operators we see across Arcadia: the 390, 391, 400, 412, 415, 750, 760, 770, 844, and S800 series, plus the older hydraulic 402 and 422 units that are still running on properties backing up toward the Santa Anita Park side of town. The welding and fabrication work breaks down into three categories: the steel mounting plate bolted to the gate itself, the hinge and pivot hardware that carries the gate’s weight, and the operator post or plinth plate that anchors the motor. If you’re trying to identify what you have, look for the FAAC silver data tag on the motor housing; the model number is stamped there, and the mounting bolt spacing tells us which bracket series you need without any guesswork.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for FAAC specifically: FAAC’s own brackets are properly engineered and powder coated, but they’re priced accordingly and not always in stock locally. For most residential gates in Arcadia, we fabricate from 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch steel plate to match or exceed the original spec, then prime and coat to match the gate. The one exception we will not compromise on is the S800 series slide-gate chain tray: that extrusion takes lateral load in a way welded flat stock doesn’t, and we order those from FAAC rather than substitute. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with FAAC, and we’ll tell you plainly when a genuine FAAC part is the right call versus when fabricated steel does the job better.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate sags toward the latch side. The top hinge weld or the hinge leaf itself has begun to tear. You’ll see the gap between gate and post wider at the top than the bottom. The motor is now lifting the gate’s full weight instead of pivoting it.
  • The operator makes a hard clunk at the start of each cycle. The bracket that ties the piston arm to the gate has wallowed out its bolt holes or cracked at the bend. The arm has play it shouldn’t, and the motor’s first push slams that play shut.
  • Fresh rust staining runs down from a weld joint. Water got under the coating at the weld line and is traveling. In Arcadia’s summer heat the coating gets brittle fast; rust at a weld is never cosmetic on a gate that cycles twice a day.
  • The gate scrapes the ground or the track on one side only. That’s a hinge that has moved, not a settled post. Weld fatigue shows up as one-sided contact, and leaving it means the gate grinds itself into deeper damage every cycle.
  • The motor runs but the gate barely moves, or moves in jerks. The pivot or bracket has failed enough that the operator is fighting the dead weight and losing. This is how FAAC motors burn out in Arcadia: not from lightning, from a five-dollar weld let go six months prior.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Arcadia, most FAAC welding and fabrication repairs land between $220 and $480 installed. A straightforward bracket rebuild with new steel and re-coating runs $220-$320. A hinge replacement where the old hinge must be cut off and new plate steel let in runs $280-$450. A full operator-post rebuild with the plinth plate re-welded and the motor re-aligned can reach $480 on the high end. The spread comes down to two things: how much of the old steel is salvageable, and whether we can weld in place or need to remove the gate leaf to do it right.

Every price is written down and handed to you before a single pass with the welder. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1, and it has been since we started this company in 2014. You’ll also get the Clause 4 photo record: before, during, and after shots of the weld area, plus the part numbers and material specs noted on your written job summary. The work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the weld fails or the gate drifts out of alignment within a year, we return and make it right without another invoice.

Some of this you can safely inspect. Open the motor cover, check for cracked mounting bolts, watch the hinge line while the gate cycles, and mark any rust at the weld joints with a paint pen so you can track whether it spreads. What you should not do is weld on a gate that’s under load or attempt to shim a sagging hinge back into position with washers. A gate leaf that weighs 300 to 600 pounds, once its hinge steel lets go, can come down hard and without warning. And a gate that falls while a person is in the path is how serious injuries happen; this is the exact repair that put the “trained professional” line in every gate safety manual ever written.

If you’re in Arcadia and you can see the crack, call us at (562) 267-0589. We’ll come look at it, tell you whether it’s a weld-back or a fabricate-new situation, and hand you the written price before any work starts. Usually we can weld it same day.
