Signs Your Viking Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate sags at the latch end. This is almost always hinge wear or a hinge weld that’s cracked through. The leaf drops, the latch stops lining up, and the Viking operator starts fighting the extra friction every cycle.
• A cracking or creaking sound when the gate moves. That sound is metal flexing against metal. Could be a cracked tube, a separating welded joint, or a bracket that’s loose on its bolts. Noise means movement where there shouldn’t be any.
• The gate jerks or shudders partway through its travel. The motor is working, but the gate is binding. A bent rail, a failed wheel, or a broken weld on the track system all cause this. The operator can’t fix it. Welding or fabricating a replacement part can.
• The Viking operator’s arm has pulled loose from the gate. This is the one we see most after windstorms in Arcadia. A gust loads the gate, the gate loads the bracket, and the bracket’s weld or bolts fail before the motor does. The operator then pushes against nothing.
• Rust bleeding from a joint or weld line. Rust staining at a joint means the weld or the surrounding steel is oxidizing from the inside. DIY or Call Us?

Welding a gate hinge or frame is not a weekend project. If you have a stick welder and you’ve done structural welds before, you already know whether this is in your range. For everyone else, the honest advice is this: a gate carries hundreds of pounds and moves under motor power while people and cars pass under it.
